The New Orleans Index at Ten

Nov 10, 2015

With the most recent publication of The New Orleans Index and the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, the Data Center looked to measure greater New Orleans’ progress towards prosperity in the past ten years. In this video, Dr. Allison Plyer explains what is needed for a community to be resilient, and examines data showing where the metro has improved and where there is still more work to be done. The indicators suggest that while the New Orleans economy is rebounding and in some ways better than before, several social and environmental trends may test its resilience capacity in the future.
