Haleigh Tomlin is a Research Analyst at The Data Center. Her focus areas include research related to wealth and local economic outcomes, and she specializes in statistical modeling and written data analysis.
Haleigh joined The Data Center in 2022 with an interest in spatial disparities of Southeast Louisiana.
Prior to working at The Data Center, Haleigh completed her BA in sociology at Washington and Lee University in Virginia. As a sophomore, she took a course about urban neighborhood effects and focused her final project on in-migration to New Orleans for the years following Hurricane Katrina. This project sparked her interest in spatial processes within Southeast Louisiana. Since then, her undergraduate research concerned relationships between local labor market composition and poverty in the United States. Her undergraduate thesis focused on how these relationships are influenced by single-parent households and how they may differ by rurality.
Haleigh is the co-creator of the local wealth estimation methodology powering, A Profile of Wealth in the New Orleans Metro, drawing on extensive experience working with federal survey datasets.
